Portland has plenty of excuses to break out the steins, pretzels, brats, and questionable attempts at the chicken dance.
From full-blown festivals with polka bands and wiener dog races to brewery celebrations and neighborhood beer gardens, here's where to celebrate Oktoberfest around Portland this year.

McMenamins is kicking off Oktoberfest season downtown with German-style food and drink specials, a Pride Plaza beer garden, and live music throughout the West End Entertainment District. It's free and all ages are welcome.

WonderLove is stretching Oktoberfest across more than two weeks with seasonal brews, hearty fall food, music, and plenty of reasons to raise a pint. It's free to attend, so you have plenty of time to work it into the schedule.

Portland's hometown Oktoberfest goes big for three days with German food, Paulaner beer, polka and folk music, traditional dancing, cooking demos, craft vendors, rides, and the very important wiener dog races.

Kennedy School is celebrating 10 years of its Oktoberfest Brewfest with 24 German-style beers and ciders, sausages, kielbasa, pretzels, and live music. Tickets include a tasting glass and 10 tokens.

Oktoberfest and fresh-hop season collide at Prost! Marketplace for a weekend of German-style fresh-hop beers. Expect fresh-hop pilsners, Oktoberfests, Kölsch, hefeweizens, and the general feeling that maybe one more beer is a reasonable idea.

A Portland brewery dedicated to German-style beer throwing an Oktoberfest feels pretty self-explanatory. Rosenstadt has Oct. 3 locked in for its taproom celebration, with more details still to come.

Occidental rounds out the season with Festbier, brass bands, food, fresh-hop beer, and a stein-holding contest. Admission is $15 and includes a mug and your first beer, while non-drinkers and kids get in free.
